I am one of a handful of adolescent medicine providers in the state of NJ- there are only about 400 in the country. I am not in private practice as I am a salaried employee so I have no financial gain from telling you this- we have an adolescent medicine service at both Overlook and Morristown Memorial Hospital as well as an eating disorders program that provide services from adolescents from age 11-21. In addition to taking care of patients with eating disorders we provide full gyn care for teens- birth control, PAP smears,STD treatment problems with periods like cramps, infrequent periods,etc. Our approach as specially trained pediatricians is often a bit different than that of an adult gyn. Also all of our new patients have an hour long visit and follow-ups are always scheduled for 30 minutes so there is enough time to talk and answer all questions.
