The township of Millburn/Short Hills is a wonderful place to invest in real estate. Part of why potential new homeowners can recognize the value of being a property owner in the township of Millburn/Short Hills is because they know that the surrounding areas are also wonderful places which offer opportunities for growth and learning for themselves and their children. One opportunity that children in the township of Millburn/Short Hills have to take advantage of is the chance to participate in the Summit Symphony’s Young Artist Competition.
This year, the Summit Symphony’s 2010 Young Artist Competition honored four students who were featured at a concert on May 16th at Summit High School. This years winners were Sunny Chang of Millburn, Kevin Jang of Edison, Dawn Wang of North Haledon and honorable mention went to Kevin Lin of Tenafly. Chang is completing her freshman year at Millburn High School, and studies cello under Alan Stepansky. She performed the first movement of the Dvorak Concerto for Cello in b minor at the concert. Funding for this event was generously donated in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts Department of State, which is a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, via a grant from the Union County Division of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.
Potential new homeowners are eager to invest in property in the township of Millburn/Short Hills to afford their children the opportunity to be successful in arenas such as the Summit Symphony’s Young Artist Competition.

The township of Millburn/Short Hills is a wonderful place for potential new homeowners to raise a family. Children raised in the township of Millburn/Short Hills go on to be very successful in life. Millburn High School, the number one public high school in the state of New Jersey, gives young people exceptional preparation for future endeavors. Proof of this is widely evident in how many students have made the dean’s list at their respective universities and colleges post Millburn High School.
Millburn High School graduate Allison Cheryl Stone was on the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2009-10 academic year at the School of Management at Binghamton University, State University of New York. Robert Edell and Maureen Guadagno have been named to the dean’s list at Bucknell University for the fall semester. With an English and Political Science concentration, Catherine Leibowitz (Millburn High School, 2006) was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Colgate University. At Essex County College, Millburn/Short Hills township residents Badora Ali, Brian Calicchio, Kiran Gordhan, Dmitry Gridin, Claudia Pizon, Sunsook Sohnkim and Magdalena Grzybowska are all on the deans list for the fall semester. An Economics major, Henry Lee is currently studying at Hamilton College and was placed on the dean’s list for fall semester. At Northwestern University Laren M. Fischer has also been named to the dean’s list and John Keyloun, a student at the University of Notre Dame, also was put on the dean’s list.
These Millburn/Short Hills township residents have all taken their experiences from attending the illustrious Millburn High School and used them to excel later in life. Potential new homeowners know that being from the township of Millburn/Short Hills is a great asset for their children and will help them to develop many useful skills.

Being a realtor in Millburn/Short Hills is a rewarding and inspiring job. There are many random acts of kindness in our town that I get to share with new homeowners, and that help inspire me to be a better person.
Two residents who work hard to give back to the community are Shirley Smallzman and Judy Frankel. Their kind deeds are useful to the individuals at the Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center. The Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Saint Barnabas hospital has been providing top notch physical, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families for over 25 years. Smallzman spends approximately 52 hours every month working in the care center’s offices. She answers phones, enters data and runs reports. Since 2003, Smallzman has donated more than 2,000 hours of her time to the Care Center.
Judy Frankel helps out in a different way. Frankel rears Golden Retriever therapy dogs. She brings these dogs to the aid of those in hospice care as well as several other units at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and other hospitals across New Jersey. Frankel, along with several other volunteers, was recognized by the hospice care center for National Volunteer Week.
In addition to inspiring patients, Shirley Smallzman and Judy Frankel inspire their peers and neighbors to also be helpful, selfless, and kind. That is what the Millburn Short Hills community is all about—fostering excellence and camaraderie among individuals as well as fellow residents. This type of attitude is what attracts countless new homeowners every year.
